Hello Everyone! Do you have leftover candy from Halloween and want to get rid of it? Do you want your child to learn how to be charitable, but never know how to get them involved in an activity that is safe and can make a difference? Well, here’s your chance!

My Kindergarten class is collecting for a great organization called Operation Shoebox. This is my 4th year collecting at Whispering Oak but my 6th year of participating in Operation Shoebox.

For those of you who haven't heard of this wonderful organization, please click the link below and check out the great things they do for our troops overseas. Each year we collect SO much that it would cost me over $500 to ship, so I deliver it. I have had a tour of the facility. It really humbled me and brought tears to my eyes to see all of the wonderful things that they do for our soldiers. They even have backpacks for the wounded soldiers. Volunteers from the Villages help make stockings for the holidays and pack them full of goodies for each soldier. I got to stuff a stocking full too :-).

So, please help my Kindergarten class continue this tradition at Whispering Oak. Please send in any extra candy, including chocolate (soldiers say they will lick the melted chocolate if they have to) in with your child to his/her class (extra Halloween/Christmas candy is awesome…especially when it is on clearance).

If you are able to help out, please send it in by Friday, November 14th. We will be taking all of the items to Operation Shoebox on November 16th.

Items can be brought in bags, boxes…anything… we just want it!!!

Many thanks and gratitude!
